This memorial, erected in 1981, commemorates the deportation of Jews from France during the Nazi occupation. Between 1942 and 1944, more than 75,000 Jewish men, women, and children were deported from France to extermination camps, the vast majority to Auschwitz. The site serves as a place of remembrance for one of the darkest chapters of the Second World War.
