Błękitny Wieżowiec

The Błękitny Wieżowiec — literally 'Blue Skyscraper' — is a glass-clad office tower in central Warsaw whose construction stretched over 26 years before completion in 1991. Its location carries profound historical weight: the building stands on the site of the Great Synagogue of Warsaw, one of Poland's most important Jewish houses of worship, which SS-General Jürgen Stroop ordered demolished in May 1943 as a symbolic finale to the suppression of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. The tower itself is not a dedicated memorial, but for those aware of the history, the ground it occupies functions as an inadvertent and sobering memory site.
