Bodega Ridge Provincial Park

Bodega Ridge Provincial Park covers roughly 397 hectares on Galiano Island, one of British Columbia's southern Gulf Islands, protected since 2001. The park's defining feature is the Bodega Ridge itself — a long limestone spine forested with old-growth Douglas fir and Pacific madrone (arbutus) trees that cling to exposed rock outcrops near the coastal edge. From the ridge, hikers gain sweeping views across the Salish Sea toward neighbouring islands and the distant Coast Mountains, making it one of the most rewarding viewpoints accessible by BC Ferries. The trails shift between sheltered old-growth canopy and open, wind-scoured ridgeline, with the contrast giving the walk a surprising sense of variety for a half-day outing. The park is open year-round and sees far fewer visitors than mainland parks, which preserves much of its quiet.
