Boundary Bay Wildlife Management Area

The Boundary Bay Wildlife Management Area covers the entire Canadian portion of Boundary Bay in British Columbia's Lower Mainland, established on June 21, 1995, to protect critical habitat for migratory birds, native fish, and marine mammals. It forms part of the Fraser River Delta Ramsar Site, an internationally recognized wetland of global importance along the Pacific Flyway — hundreds of thousands of shorebirds and waterfowl stop here during their migrations between the Arctic and South America. Tidal flats, saltmarshes, and shallow coastal waters also support harbour seals and sea lions year-round. Dyke trails offer expansive views across the bay toward the Cascade Mountains, making it a quiet counterpoint to nearby Vancouver.
