The Boosenburg, also known as the Oberburg, is a medieval lowland castle (Niederungsburg) on the right bank of the Rhine just above the Brömserburg in Rüdesheim am Rhein. Unlike most castles of the Rheingau, it sits at valley level rather than on a ridge — a relatively unusual typology for the region. Listed as a Kulturdenkmal (cultural monument) under Hessian heritage law, it stands in close proximity to the better-known Brömserburg and forms part of the dense chain of fortifications along the Middle Rhine valley. Little is documented about its construction or former inhabitants, which lends the site a quiet, understated character amid the surrounding vineyard landscape.
