Flora Cologne
Cologne
Founded in 1826 as Belgium's national botanical collection, the Botanical Garden of Brussels once housed one of Europe's significant assemblies of plant species. Its centerpiece is a classicist glass palace, now a protected monument, which was repurposed as a cultural event venue after the scientific collections were relocated in the 20th century. The surrounding parklands survive as a public green space open to visitors year-round, with summer hours extending to 20:30. For Bruxellois, it remains a quiet urban retreat a short walk from the city center.
