Flora Cologne

The Flora in Cologne's Riehl district is a historicist glass-palace event hall opened in 1864, originally conceived as a grand pleasure garden for the Gründerzeit bourgeoisie — its ballrooms, conservatory, and winter gardens ranked among the most opulent in Germany. Heavily bombed during World War II, the building stood as a ruin for decades before being painstakingly restored in the 1990s using original plans. The surrounding botanical park, with rare trees, rose gardens, and tropical greenhouses, is freely accessible daily and serves as a green buffer between Cologne Zoo and the Rhine. The restored hall hosts concerts, trade fairs, and private events.

Laid out 1864, ballroom in greenhouse-meets-palace style, plus four themed gardens and a tropical house.
