botanic garden

This botanical garden on the edge of the Schönwasserpark in Krefeld's Oppum district grew from a small school garden in 1928 into a scientifically organized site of 3.6 hectares. Around 5,000 plant species are arranged in themed sections covering native wildflants through to species from more distant climate zones. Entry is free and the grounds are wheelchair-accessible. Opening hours vary seasonally: daily from 8 am in summer, with reduced winter hours and closed weekends from November through mid-March.
