Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden of Ruhr-Universität Bochum sits in the wooded Bochum-Querenburg district, directly adjacent to the university campus. Founded in 1968 alongside the university itself, it serves a dual purpose as a research and teaching resource and as a public green space. The gently sloping grounds reach south toward the Lottental valley and Kemnader See, with the forested Kalwes hill rising to the east. Plant collections from various climate zones and ecosystems are displayed across outdoor beds and greenhouse sections. Open daily from 9 am — until 6 pm in summer, 4 pm in winter months.
