Brauneck

Brauneck (1,555 m) is a peak in the Bavarian Prealps, an outlier of the Benediktenwand range, situated just 60 kilometres south of Munich. The Brauneck-Bergbahn cable car runs year-round from Lenggries, opening up the summit both for winter skiing — with multiple lifts and groomed runs — and for summer hiking across alpine meadows with views stretching to the Zugspitze and Karwendel. The mountain is particularly popular among paragliders and hang-gliders, with several certified launch sites making it one of the most frequented flying spots in Upper Bavaria. Traditional alpine huts near the summit serve Bavarian snacks after hikes or ski runs. Direct rail connections via the Bayerische Oberlandbahn make the Brauneck easily reachable from Munich without a car.
