Baumgartenschneid

Baumgartenschneid is a 1,448-metre summit in the Bavarian Prealps rising steeply above the eastern shore of the Tegernsee. The ascent passes through mountain forest and open alpine meadows, taking two to three hours from the valley depending on the chosen route from Rottach-Egern or Tegernsee. At the top, a sweeping panorama unfolds over the deep-blue Tegernsee, the surrounding foothills, and on clear days the high Alps beyond. There is no mountain hut at the summit itself, making this a quiet viewpoint rather than a social stop — refreshments are best planned for the descent into the valley.
