Schlossberg Castle is a medieval hilltop fortress dating from 1283, perched on a rocky spur above the small town of La Neuveville on Lake Biel in the canton of Bern. It stands as a regional cultural heritage site, a remnant of the strategic contest for control of the lake route between the Bernese Mittelland and the Jura during the 13th century. The castle survives largely as a ruin, its weathered masonry blending into the natural rock. The climb rewards visitors with an open panorama across Lake Biel and the surrounding vineyard slopes — a quiet vantage point well off the main tourist circuit.
