Husen Castle
Strasbourg
The Lichtenfels castle ruin sits on a wooded ridge near Leinstetten in the Rottweil district of Baden-Württemberg, and belongs to the high-medieval fortified seats of the region's minor nobility. Likely built in the 12th or 13th century, it served as a residence for the Lords of Lichtenfels before gradually falling into ruin over subsequent centuries. Surviving stretches of rough-cut stone walling emerge from the surrounding mixed forest, lending the site a quietly atmospheric quality. Hiking trails lead up through the trees to the ruins, rewarding visitors with open views across the rolling northern Black Forest landscape. It remains an unhurried, off-the-beaten-path destination for walkers, families, and anyone drawn to medieval heritage.
