Ca' Rezzonico

Baroque palazzo on the Grand Canal housing Venice's museum of 18th-century life, with Tiepolo frescoes and rococo interiors.

Ca' Rezzonico is a baroque palazzo on the Grand Canal in Venice's Dorsoduro sestiere, now home to the Museo del Settecento Veneziano — the Museum of 18th-Century Venice. Construction began in 1667 but the building was only completed decades later; the Rezzonico family, who gave it its name, produced Pope Clement XIII. The English poet Robert Browning spent his final days here and died in the palazzo in 1889. Inside, lavish ceiling frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo, paintings by Francesco Guardi, and original rococo furniture create one of the most complete pictures of Venetian aristocratic life in the 1700s.
