The church of San Samuele in Venice''s San Marco sestiere is one of the few churches in the city with direct access to the Grand Canal. Founded around 1001, it houses relics traditionally attributed to the biblical Samuel, giving it an unusual dedication. The facade faces the Grand Canal and is visible from the water, while the campo side is flanked by Palazzo Grassi and Palazzo Malipiero. Small and modest in scale, San Samuele offers a quiet contrast to its grand neighbours.
