Commuter freeway between Newport Beach and Anaheim in Orange County.

California State Route 55, known as the Costa Mesa Freeway, links Newport Beach on the Southern California coast with Anaheim inland. The roughly 18-mile north-south corridor opened in 1964 and runs through dense suburban communities of Orange County. It intersects several major interstates and ranks among the busiest commuter routes in the greater Los Angeles area. Today it forms part of the intricate freeway network that shapes daily life in this sprawling metropolis.
