Château de Crémat

Château de Crémat sits on the hills north of Nice and is one of the very few estates within the Bellet appellation, one of France's smallest and most obscure AOC wine regions, its boundaries barely extending beyond the city limits of Nice itself. The castle commands terraced grounds above steep vineyards planted with rare indigenous varieties — Braquet for reds and Rolle for whites — that largely disappeared from the rest of Provence centuries ago. Visitors to the estate can taste the domaine's Bellet wines directly on site. Its proximity to Monaco makes it a quiet contrast to the coast: old vines, a park, and bottles that most wine drinkers will never encounter elsewhere.
