Baroque parish church in Venice's Castello district, known as Santa Maria della Fava
Santa Maria della Fava – also known as Santa Maria della Consolazione – is a Baroque parish church in the western part of Venice's sestiere of Castello. Though the site dates back to the late 15th century, the current building was constructed in the first half of the 18th century. The church opens onto the Campo de la Fava; its popular nickname della Fava (the bean) likely derives from a local custom or a sweet sold nearby.
