Nationals Park

Nationals Park on the south bank of the Anacostia River in Washington's Navy Yard neighborhood has been the home ballpark of the Washington Nationals since 2008. Designed by HOK Sport (now Populous), the 41.339-seat stadium was the first major American pro stadium to earn LEED certification and cost around 670 million dollars to build. On clear days the upper deck offers a view of the Capitol dome to the north. The 2019 World Series ended here with the first and so far only championship in Nationals history, defeating the Houston Astros. A local quirk: in the mid-inning Racing Presidents mascot race, Teddy Roosevelt lost 525 times in a row between 2006 and 2012 before management finally let him win. The blocks around the park have transformed since opening into bars, residential towers and the riverside Yards Park, all a block from Navy Yard Metro.
