Dancing House

The Dancing House stands on Rasinkai on the Vltava, a 1996 office building by the Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić in partnership with Frank Gehry. It replaces a house destroyed in February 1945 in an American air raid and consciously inserts a piece of postmodern architecture into an otherwise strictly historicist riverfront. The two intertwined towers - one straight and glazed, one curving and tapering downward - are nicknamed Ginger and Fred, after the dance duo Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. Controversial when it opened, it is now considered a defining piece of post-communist Prague architecture. The rooftop hosts a restaurant and bar with views toward Prague Castle.
