The City of Prague Museum is the Czech capital's principal municipal museum, founded in 1881 and housed in a Historicist Gründerzeit building in the Florenz district. Its most celebrated exhibit is Antonín Langweil's paper model of Prague, painstakingly constructed between 1826 and 1837 — a roughly 20-square-metre scale model at 1:480 that captures the city's early-19th-century streetscape in extraordinary detail. Permanent collections span archaeology, historical cartography, decorative arts, and documents of Prague's urban development from the medieval period through the 20th century. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 9 am to 8 pm, with an entry fee.
