Fatih Mansion

The Fatih Mansion is one of the oldest surviving structures within Topkapi Palace, built around 1460 under Sultan Mehmed II shortly after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople. Its four rooms constitute the Ottoman Imperial Treasury, displaying an extraordinary concentration of jeweled weapons, gold artifacts, and gem-encrusted regalia that document the empire's peak wealth across several centuries. Two objects command particular attention: the Spoonmaker's Diamond, an 86-carat pear-shaped stone that ranks among the world's largest cut diamonds, and the Dagger of Nadir Shah, its hilt set with three enormous emeralds and a small watch concealed beneath the pommel. The relatively compact gallery layout keeps crowds thinner than other sections of the palace, allowing unusually close viewing of the original pieces.
