Fatih Memorial Park

Fatih Memorial Park is a small, well-kept green space in the Saraçhane neighbourhood of Istanbul, set alongside the busy İtfaiye Caddesi near the historic Fatih complex. Its centrepiece is a large equestrian statue of Sultan Mehmed II, who conquered Constantinople in 1453 and gave this entire district its name. The park sits directly beside a standing section of the Roman Valens Aqueduct — a 4th-century structure that once carried water across the city — creating an unusual layering of Byzantine infrastructure and Ottoman commemoration in a single block. With benches, a fountain, and a small playground, it functions today as a neighbourhood retreat from the traffic-heavy civic landscape surrounding Istanbul's main municipal buildings.
