The equestrian statue of Absalon stands on Højbro Plads in Copenhagen, unveiled in 1902 to mark the 700th anniversary of the death of Bishop Absalon, the city's legendary founder. The 12th-century archbishop and warlord built a fortress on this site in 1167, from which Copenhagen grew. The bronze figure depicts Absalon on horseback with sword drawn, embodying his dual role as military commander and church leader. Note: the POI data lists Malmö as the city, but all available sources point to Copenhagen — an editorial check is recommended.
