Nairobi's main international airport – sixth busiest in Africa, hub for Kenya Airways and gateway to East Africa.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is located in the Embakasi suburb, approximately 18 kilometres southeast of Nairobi city centre. It is Kenya's principal international airport and one of the busiest on the continent – in 2024 it handled over nine million passengers. The airport serves as the hub for Kenya Airways and connects East Africa to destinations in more than 50 countries. It was renamed in 1978 to honour Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's first president. Travellers moving through East Africa rarely bypass it; it functions both as Kenya's main gateway and as a regional transfer hub.
