Nyayo National Stadium is a multi-sport facility in central Nairobi, opened in 1983 and named after the Swahili word for 'footsteps' — a political slogan of then-president Daniel arap Moi. It serves primarily as home ground for top Kenyan football clubs, most notably AFC Leopards, one of the country's most supported sides. Beyond the football pitch, the complex includes a 50-metre swimming pool, a gymnasium, and courts for handball and volleyball. For safety reasons, crowd capacity has been capped at around 18,000. The stadium remains a focal point of Nairobi's grassroots and league sports scene.
