Goldberg

The Goldberg near Hagen (266 m above sea level) is a forested ridge on the southern edge of the Sauerland uplands. Its name comes directly from its past: in the late Middle Ages, gold and silver were extracted from its slopes near the village of Hagen an der Volme, making it a rare site of precious-metal mining in the region. Today the hill is a quiet local hiking destination with forest trails and glimpses into the Volme valley.
