Western Lowland Gorillas at one of Europe''s top zoos — a close encounter with endangered great apes

Prague Zoo is one of the most respected in Europe and is home to a group of Western Lowland Gorillas — the largest of the four gorilla subspecies and the one most commonly found in zoos worldwide. The enclosure is designed to meet the animals'' complex social needs, with spacious indoor and outdoor areas. The zoo participates actively in coordinated breeding programmes to protect the species.
