Bolshoy Ustinsky Bridge

The Bolshoy Ustyinsky Bridge crosses the Moskva just above the mouth of the Yauza, which flows in from the northeast at this point. The 134-meter steel arch, 34 meters wide, opened in May 1938 as part of Stalin's master plan to modernize Moscow and replaced an 1881 bridge. Alongside road traffic, a tram line crosses the river here. The bridge was one of the technical showpieces of the late prewar years and is part of the ring boulevard around the inner city. Pedestrians use it for the view of the soaring silhouette of the Kotelnicheskaya high-rise, one of the Seven Sisters skyscrapers, which rises right on the bank.
