Gwanaksan Mountain

632 m mountain on Seoul's southern edge – popular hiking spot with sweeping views across the city.

Gwanaksan is a 632-metre mountain on Seoul's southern outskirts and one of the most popular hiking destinations in the South Korean capital. With Gwanaksan National Park right on the city's edge, Seoul residents flock here every weekend to escape the urban bustle and explore wooded valleys and rocky summit areas. Numerous trails wind through dense pine and oak forests up to the peak, from which there are breathtaking panoramic views across the sprawling metropolis. Along the way hikers pass historic temples and small rest shelters. The mountain also borders the campus of the prestigious Seoul National University, giving it a special place in student life.
