Cerro San Cristóbal

Also known as: San cristóbal hill

Santiago

Santiago's iconic city hill at 880 m, crowned by a Virgin Mary statue and accessible by cable car, with sweeping views of the Andes and the city.

Cerro San Cristóbal is Santiago's iconic city hill and the defining natural landmark of the Chilean capital. The elongated ridge in the Bellavista district rises about 300 metres above street level to a summit of 880 metres, overlooking the Río Mapocho to the south. A 22-metre statue of the Virgin Mary crowns the peak and dominates the city skyline. Part of the Parque Metropolitano de Santiago, the hill is accessible by cable car, funicular and hiking trails. On clear days the summit offers breathtaking views across the Andes and the entire urban expanse below.
