Gwanaksan Mountain
National ParkSummitMountain+2
Dajti is Tirana's 1613-meter home mountain, rising abruptly from the plain just east of the city. The massif is covered with beech and black pine, with karst plateaus, caves and springs along the ridge; protected since 1966 as Dajti National Park, now expanded to about 290 square kilometers. The Austrian Dajti Ekspres cable car has climbed roughly 800 meters from Tirana's edge to the plateau in about fifteen minutes since 2005. Up top run trails through old forest, picnic areas, an adventure park and a wide view back over the city and the Adriatic plain.
