The Jerusalem Synagogue – also called the Jubilee Synagogue – is the largest active synagogue in Prague, built around 1900 in the Nove Mesto (New Town) district. It stands on Jerusalemska Street and immediately captivates with its extraordinary facade blending Moorish and Art Nouveau elements. The Orthodox Jewish congregation uses it as an active house of worship. Inside, rich murals, colourful windows and arabesque ornamentation create an opulent atmosphere. The synagogue was built to mark the 50th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I's reign and remains an important testament to Jewish life in Bohemia.
