Keio Rail-Land

Keio Rail-Land in Hino at Tokyo's western edge is the in-house railway museum of the Keio Corporation, right next to Tama-Dobutsukoen station at the zoo entrance. It opened in 2000 and reopened in 2013 after a major expansion. The outdoor yard displays five historic Keio Dentetsu trainsets, including a green car from the 1960s and a pale-red 5000-series train. Inside, children can operate a 1:1 driver's cab simulator and a model-train diorama of the Keio network. Admission at 310 yen is unusually cheap, and outside weekends the museum stays comfortably empty. A hidden gem for families with train-loving kids who find the larger Saitama railway museum too hectic.
