Museum trains at Rizhsky Rail Terminal

Open-air display of historic rolling stock next to Moscow's Rigsky Station, opened in 2004. The tracks hold steam engines from tsarist times, Soviet diesel and electric locomotives, passenger cars from several eras, and an armoured saloon car used in the defence of Moscow in 1941. Rigsky Station itself, opened in 1901 in pseudo-Russian style, once served as the gateway to the Baltic provinces. Visitors can climb into several driver cabs and inspect tenders and water tanks at close range. In summer a restored steam locomotive occasionally runs along a short section of track.
