China Railway Museum(Dongjiao Site)

The Dongjiao Hall is the rolling-stock branch of the China Railway Museum, set on a former works site in Beijing's Chaoyang district. It opened in 2002 on 16,500 square metres and focuses on locomotives and carriages from the People's Republic era after 1949. Long shed roads display JF and QJ class steam engines, early Soviet-licensed diesels and first-generation high-speed EMUs. Visitors can climb into several cabs and inspect cutaway sections that expose the machinery inside. For railway fans and families with children, it offers an unusually hands-on look at China's industrial catch-up, well off the typical Beijing tourist circuit.
