Krung Thep Bridge Bangkok

Bangkok

1959 bascule bridge over Bangkok's Chao Phraya river — the third crossing built, still operating today.

The Krung Thep Bridge is a bascule (drawbridge) crossing the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok, built in 1959 as the third bridge over the river. Constructed by Japan's Fuji Car Manufacturing Co., it connects the Thonburi district to Bang Kho Laem. As a working drawbridge, it still opens for river traffic — a functional piece of mid-century engineering on Bangkok's busy riverside.
