Musée international d'art naïf Anatole Jakovsky

The Musee international d'art naif Anatole Jakovsky in Nice occupies the Chateau Sainte-Helene, a villa in the hills above the Fabron district once owned by perfumer Francois Coty. It opened in 1982 after the Romanian art critic Anatole Jakovsky donated his extensive collection of naive painting to the city. Around 600 works from the 18th to the 20th century are represented, with emphases on Henri Rousseau, Camille Bombois, Andre Bauchant and similar self-taught painters from Europe, Latin America and Haiti. Examples of art brut, the art of outsiders and self-taught makers, complete the picture. Walking through the surrounding garden is part of the experience, especially out of high season.
