Nemanjina Street

Nemanjina ulica is one of Belgrade's principal administrative boulevards, running from the main railway station Beograd-Glavna to the central Slavija roundabout. It is named after Stefan Nemanja, the 12th-century Grand Župan who founded the Nemanjić dynasty and unified medieval Serbia. The street is lined with Gründerzeit-era government buildings housing several Serbian ministries, the National Bank of Serbia, and the Historical Museum of Serbia, which holds collections spanning the medieval period to the 20th century. Less a promenade than an institutional spine, the street offers a compact overview of Belgrade's late 19th- and early 20th-century urban planning ambitions.
