Wimbachklamm

The Wimbachklamm is a walkable river gorge at the entrance to the Wimbach valley near Ramsau, fully within the Berchtesgaden National Park and designated as a protected geotope. The Wimbach stream has carved its way deep into Wetterstein limestone, creating narrow passages where water thunders over stepped rock ledges. A secured trail guides visitors through the gorge, in places running directly along the torrent on wooden walkways. For geologists and curious hikers alike, the exposed rock faces tell a clear story of alpine erosion over millennia. The gorge stays noticeably cool even in summer, making it a welcome escape during hot months — though the uneven, wet terrain means it is not wheelchair accessible.
