Corinth

About Corinth

Corinth sits on the northern coast of the Peloponnese in Greece, at the narrow isthmus connecting the peninsula to the Greek mainland. The modern city of around 30,000 inhabitants was largely rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 1858 and serves as the administrative centre of the Corinthia regional unit. The surrounding area holds sites of historical interest, including the ancient Δίολκος ship-trackway, the archaeological site of Lerna, and the Isthmia Submersible Bridge. The Corinthian Gulf and the nearby canal define much of the region's character and economy.
