Viewpoints in Moscow

Moscow rewards those who look up — and out. Sparrow Hills Park offers one of the city's most sweeping panoramas across the skyline, while the Ivan the Great Bell Tower inside the Kremlin provides a historic vantage point over the rooftops below. The Ostankino Tower and the latticed Shukhov Tower punctuate the horizon from afar, and Patriarshiy Bridge frames a close-up view of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour across the river. On and around Red Square, the Historical Museum, Kazan Cathedral, the Place of Execution, the Monument to Minin and Pozharsky, and the Museum of the Patriotic War of 1812 together create one of Russia's most visually layered public spaces. The seven Stalinist skyscrapers known as the Seven Sisters add their own distinctive silhouettes to the cityscape.
