2С5 «Гиацинт-С»
Sergiyev Posad
A static memorial exhibit of the Soviet 2S9 Nona-S, an airborne self-propelled mortar developed in the 1970s for USSR paratroop divisions. The vehicle combines a 120 mm mortar with a light armored hull designed to be dropped by parachute — a defining Cold War engineering concept. NATO first observed it in 1981 and initially designated it M1981 before its identity was confirmed. Displayed outdoors in Kremenchuk, it offers a tangible look at Soviet-era military hardware.
