Aachener Straße is one of Cologne's longest arterial roads, running westward from Rudolfplatz through Ehrenfeld and beyond, broadly following the route of a Roman military road toward Aachen. The inner sections are lined with late-19th-century tenement buildings, giving way to a more varied streetscape further west. Its mix of old-school pubs, neighbourhood cafés, and everyday retail makes it a representative slice of ordinary Cologne street life rather than a destination in itself.
