Älpelekopf

Älpelekopf is a 2,024-metre grass summit in the Allgäu Alps, classified as a subsidiary peak of the Lahnerkopf massif above the village of Jungholz. Its rounded, meadow-covered profile sets it apart from the jagged rock faces typical of higher Allgäu peaks, making it a quieter vantage point away from busier trails. The summit offers open views across the Allgäu foothills and toward the Zugspitze massif on the Austrian-Bavarian border. The approach from Jungholz — itself a geographic oddity as a Bavarian exclave entirely surrounded by Austrian territory — adds an unusual cross-border dimension to the hike.
