Altenkirchen (Westerwald)

Altenkirchen (Westerwald) station opened in 1885 as a junction on the Engers–Au and Limburg–Altenkirchen railway lines in Rhineland-Palatinate, and is listed as a protected cultural monument. At its operational peak it also served through-trains from the Linz–Flammersfeld branch line, making it a modest but regionally significant rail node in the Westerwald. The Gründerzeit station building is a characteristic example of late-19th-century Prussian railway architecture and remains wheelchair-accessible today.
