Ammersoyen Castle

Ammersoyen Castle is a remarkably intact late-medieval water castle in the village of Ammerzoden, in the Dutch province of Gelderland, built from brick in a characteristic square plan with corner towers and a full surrounding moat. Dating to the 14th century, the castle changed hands multiple times and withstood sieges whose traces remain visible in the fabric of its walls today. It is registered as a Rijksmonument under number 8104 — one of the Netherlands' formally protected national heritage monuments. Open to visitors as a museum, the castle offers access to medieval halls, vaulted cellars, and a surrounding park set within the quiet river landscape of the Bommelerwaard polder region.
