Schloss Erenstein

Liked by

Kasteel Erenstein is a 13th-century moated castle set in the Amstel valley along the Anstelerbeek stream, just across the Dutch border near Kerkrade in southern Limburg. The structure is listed as a Rijksmonument under Dutch heritage protection. Historical documentation on its original function and building phases is sparse; what survives is a compact castle building tucked into a parklike landscape along the watercourse. The surrounding Amstelvallei lends the site a quiet, secluded character typical of the border region between the Aachen urban triangle and the rolling hills of southern Limburg.
