Château de Salm
Strasbourg
Červený Kameň Castle — 'Red Stone' in Slovak — rises along the Small Carpathians Wine Route in the village of Častá, about 40 km northeast of Bratislava. One of the best-preserved castle complexes in Slovakia, it houses a museum with collections spanning period furniture, armaments, and regional history. For centuries the castle served as both a fortified warehouse and aristocratic residence, passing through the hands of notable families including the Fuggers and later the Pálffys, whose influence shaped much of western Slovakia. Set amid forested hills and surrounding vineyards, it draws visitors interested in medieval history as well as hikers exploring the Carpathian trails that run nearby. The castle courtyard offers broad views across the wine-growing lowlands of western Slovakia.
