Arda

The Arda is a roughly 300-kilometre river rising in the Bulgarian Rhodope Mountains and flowing westward through historic Thrace before joining the Maritsa near Edirne. Its short stretch on Turkish territory sits at the city's edge, where the Arda meets the Tunca and Maritsa in one of the Balkans' notable triple-river confluences. The flat floodplain is used locally for walking and fishing, with the river functioning more as a quiet backdrop to Edirne's river landscape than as a destination in its own right.
